HSmilitarycom: Two modernized Tu-160M ​​strategic missile carriers, which will enter long-range aviation in 2022, will be equipped with new electronic warfare systems  and new types of weapons. 

This was reported to journalists on Tuesday in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"The process of modernization of long-range aircraft is carried out in accordance with the approved plan. 

A feature of the modernized models of aviation equipment is the installation of new electronic warfare systems, modern navigation systems, equipping with new types of weapons, new avionics, as well as the installation of the latest means of displaying information on the crew dashboards",  the words of the commander of long-range aviation, Hero of Russia, Lieutenant General Sergei Kobylash were brought to the Ministry of Defense.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation recalled that in 2021, long-range aviation formations were replenished with four modernized Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers.

 "The combat training plan for long-range aviation over the past year has been completed by 100 percent, including work on preparing crews for combat use and training flight personnel for qualification ranks.

 A feature of 2021 was the third joint air patrol in the Asia-Pacific region with the crews of the Air Force People's Liberation Army of China, as well as the tasks of patrolling the airspace of the Republic of Belarus," the ministry noted.

Earlier, at an expanded meeting of the collegium of the military department, the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, said that it was planned to supply two Tu-160M ​​strategic missile carriers to the aviation strategic nuclear forces in 2022.

Along with the Tu-95MS, it forms the basis of the modern long-range aviation fleet of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
