US hypersonic missile test fails, Burns at launch and does not explode

Hsmilitarycom: U.S. efforts to catch up with Russia in the field of hypersonic technology almost ended in disastrous consequences.

As it turned out, during the subsequent testing of the American hypersonic missile in Hawaii, the latter caught fire and only miraculously did not explode. This made it possible to prevent disastrous consequences for several dozen people who took part in such trials.

"A test launch of a hypersonic missile system in Hawaii ended in failure due to post-ignition problems," the Defense Department said.

The Pentagon did not provide further details on what happened during the test, but a statement via email said:

"The department remains confident that it is on track to deploy offensive and defensive hypersonic capabilities on schedule, starting in the early 2020s." occurred after the test assets were turned on," Navy Commander Tim Gorman, a Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement.

Given that special components are used to accelerate the rocket to hypersonic speeds, an explosion at the test site could be very powerful.

At present, two countries in the world, Russia and China, actually have hypersonic technology, although Israel also has hypersonic weapons.

The US has already twice failed in terms of hypersonic missile tests, this second failure is taken very seriously.
