The Russian army received a new batch of T-80VM tanks equivalent to M1 Abrams

The omsktrans armored vehicle manufacturing company that is part of the Uralvagonzavod under the Rostec State Corporation, handed over another batch of T-80BVM main battle tanks to the Ministry of Defense of Russia as part of the state defense order.


Although Russia is subject to world economic sanctions, the company was able to overcome difficulties in obtaining some components that previously came from abroad.

The Omsktransmash company nevertheless managed to maintain the production of its tanks and deliver them on schedule to the Russian tem under development in Ukraine.

This T-80BVM version of the tank is an improvement over the T-80BV series. after carrying out the process of increasing its firepower, crew protection level and maneuverability, the T-80BV tank is on par in quality with the American-made M1 Abrams tank.

The T-80BVM gets armor protection consisting of a Relikt explosion protection kit also used by the latest Russian main battle tanks such as the T-90M and T-90MS.

The T-80BVM tank was armed with a 2A46M-1 cannon of 125 mm caliber offering a longer firing range, this allowed the Russian army to expand its territory easily.

Using APFSDS ammunition, this T-80VM tank has a maximum fire from 2, 000 to 3, 000 m during the day and 2, 000 to 2, 600 m at night. The main gun can also fire reflex anti-tank guided missiles 9M119M with a range of 4 to 5 km.

The T-80 family of tanks began to be developed since the era of the Soviet Union, powered by gas turbine engines like the M1 Abrams tank made in the United States.
