Will the M1 Abrams Tank strengthen Kyiv's defenses?
Some sources say that ukraine should have replaced old Soviet-made tanks with advanced NATO-compatible tanks and this is urgently needed by ukrainians amid russia's continued onslaught.
One senior U.S. Defense Department official, in a statement a few days ago, said Ukrainian lawmakers had recently visited Washington specifically to submit a request for tank assistance.
He added that so far the Ukrainian army has been using Soviet-made tanks, but the Pentagon believes they will transition to using NATO-compatible tank models.
However, it was not explained in specific terms what kind of tanks will be delivered to Ukraine. If we talk about NATO-compatible tanks, the M1 Abrams tank is already qualified.
A few months ago, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced plans to sell 250 Abrams tanks to Poland, the decision to strengthen allied defenses in eastern Europe.
Experts say, if the M1 Abrams tank is COMPATIBLE with NATO, this does not rule out the possibility that the M1 Abrams tank will be used by the Ukrainian army to repel the Russian army.
Since the 1980s, this M1 Abrams tank has been conducting various real battles and this M1 Abrams tank became the main tank of the army as well as us marines.
There are three main variants of the M1 Abrams tank: M1, M1A1 and M1A2, each variant has improvements in its weapon system, protection and electronic system.
The M1 Abrams tank and its variants have been produced as many as more than 10000 units, making it one of the legendary tanks that is still the best tank today.
