Slovakia to send T-72 tanks to Ukraine in exchange for panzers from Germany

It is rumored that Slovak T-72 tanks will be given to the ukrainian army, this is certainly not free.

By sending a number of T-72 tanks to Ukraine Slovakia will get a reward from Germany in the form of a German-made panzer.

According to government sources, Slovakia will send 30 T-72 tanks to Ukraine in an effort to help Kyiv resist the Russian military offensive. Germany, in turn, will deliver 15 units of Leopard 2 tanks to Slovakia.

The deal will be announced as soon as this week and the first batch of weapons will arrive in the Eastern European country by the end of this year.

Exchanges almost failed in June, with the Slovak Defense Ministry saying at the time that the 15 panzers were too small to replace.

"Slovakia has 30 T-72 tanks. Therefore, 15 Leopard main battle tanks cannot be a solution for us, as we need 30 main battle tanks for one tank battalion," a ministry spokesperson said at the time.

On Tuesday, Slovakia's Defense Ministry announced that it would send 30 Ukrainian BVP-1 combat infantry vehicles while it would receive 15 Leopard 2-A4 tanks from Germany.

According to the ministry, the deal also includes ammunition, spare parts and complex training. It is unclear whether the latest agreement relates to the exchange of reported tank rings.

Earlier, Slovakia donated the S-300 air defense system to Kyiv, as well as Soviet-made helicopters and self-propelled howitzers, while also hinting that they might send Kyiv MiG-29 fighter jets

Germany has also stepped up to help Ukraine by supplying Kiev's forces with thousands of portable anti-tank and anti-air missiles, tens of thousands of anti-tank mines, as well as millions of ammunition.

Berlin also delivered a number of PzH 2000 howitzers, most of which, however, are now reportedly unusable.

The West and NATO directed almost all of their military supplies to the Ukrainians facing Russia, and all those military needs were destroyed by Russia.

In this case it is considered that NATO and the west are doing work that could harm their own country, and Ukraine will constantly need military equipment if this war does not stop.
