High tension!! China fires rockets into Taiwan strait
Hsmilitarycom: China's military fired long-range missiles into the Taiwan Strait. The projectile launch was carried out in a series of military lathans around Taiwan.
The military exercises came after United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi paid a visit to Taiwan. The missile launch towards the Taiwan strait was witnessed firsthand by AFP reporters.
AFP reporters saw several small missiles fired up close to nearby military installations and flew into the sky, followed by plumes of white smoke and the sound of loud explosions around 1:13 p.m. local time.
After that the Chinese Military confirmed that, it had carried out "long-range live ammunition firing into certain areas east of the Taiwan Strait."
This is China's largest military exercise around Taiwan, conducted after a visit by United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to the democratic island.
Some of China's military training points are only 20 kilometers away from the Taiwanese coast. China insists that military exercises around the Taiwan Strait are necessary and for the sake of justice when United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visits Taiwan.
After Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, Taipei's Defense Ministry warned that China's planned military exercises put major ports and urban areas at risk.
