Krypton Kh-31 Missiles in SU-30SM fighter jets, Ukrainian air defense systems confused

Hsmilitarycom: Russian Su-30SM fighter jets use Kh-31 Krypton missiles in the battle zone in Ukraine. The missile is capable of hitting various land and sea targets.

The range of Krypton tactical supersonic missiles is 50 to 150 kilometers. To use it, the SU-30SM fighter jet does not need to enter the enemy's air defense zone.

The Kh-31 Krypton missile has been in service with the Russian armed forces for more than 30 years. Expert Vladislav Shurygin explains that Krypton can provide high-precision strikes. In his opinion, this is the world's first missile.

The Kh-31 Krypton missile reaches supersonic speeds and maneuvers at very low altitudes, bypassing enemy air defense systems.

This required a sufficiently large supply of fuel at the time of launch and the main flight routes, but they were enough to guarantee the launch of the missile on the target and cut off the electronic countermeasures, Shurygin concluded.

Experts suggested that the X-31 was used in hostilities, where the radar was first disabled, and then attacked the enemy's military infrastructure.

The main advantage the Kh-31 Krypton Missile works at very low altitudes. This makes it difficult to understand and detect enemy radar, Dandykin experts say.
