Berlin is considering options for the purchase of an air defense system capable of preventing the "Russian Iskander", now two complexes are prioritizing the Israeli Arrow 3 anti-aircraft missile system or the American THAAD.

Germany believes that both Israel and the US have developed air defense systems specifically designed to counter modern missile threats, including Russian Iskander missiles.

According to an unnamed source in the German Bundeswehr, Germany does not have an air defense system capable of effectively combating missiles in general, and iskander missiles in particular.

It is assumed that THAAD or Arrow 3 will be able to protect European airspace. So far, no details of the proposed deal have been released.

Earlier, the German press reported that Berlin was considering the purchase of Israel's Arrow 3 system, there was no talk of an American THAAD.

The purchase discussion has already been carried out, but the final decision has not yet been made. If approved, the agreement will cost 2 billion euros, and the system will be used in 2025.

According to the German military plan, the Arrow 3 radar will be placed in three places in such a way that it covers not only the territory of Germany, but also Poland, as well as Romania or the Baltic states. This will be enough for these countries to purchase system launchers, and Germany will provide radar data.

According to the Israeli Ministry of Defense, the Strela-3 air defense system (Arrow 3 or Hetz-3) is Israel's most advanced long-range missile defense system designed to intercept ballistic missiles.

The air defense system was developed by Israel together with the United States. Its developers include the American Missile Defense Agency.
