According to the publication, the countries' negotiations on arms exchange reached a hopeless stalemate, as Warsaw demanded to replace its tanks sent to Ukraine with the latest German Leopards, but Berlin was unable to do this due to their absence.

"Germany made promises to strengthen our defenses and replenish supplies, but, unfortunately, nothing was fulfilled," Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Szymon Szynkowski said.

The newspaper stated that an agreement between Poland and Germany could hardly be reached due to the fact that a quick delivery of leopard tanks was impossible due to problems in production.

On April 20, Germany announced that instead of supplying weapons to Ukraine, modern tanks would be handed over to Eastern European countries, which were ready to deliver military equipment from Soviet times to Kiev.

A day earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz acknowledged that the Bundeswehr's chances of supplying weapons to Ukraine were running low.
