The source reported that the US has held talks with Poland and a decision has been made for the delivery of 100 T-72 tanks partly equipment for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Poland's decision comes as the U.S. has pledged to speed up the delivery of M1 Abrams tanks to Poland.

The delivery of 100 T-72 tanks to Ukraine began today, as it was known in the morning that at least five T-72M1 tanks from the Czech Republic were sent by train. This does not exclude the possibility that some additional equipment will be taken from the territory of Poland.

To date, Poland is armed with more than 700 T-72 tanks, which Poland wants to phase out in the near future, including through the acquisition of a large number of U.S. M1 Abrams tanks.

But to date, Poland has not made an official statement regarding the delivery of 100 T-72 tanks to Ukraine, Previously it was known that the US is negotiating with countries such as the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, etc. on the supply requirements of T-72s.

Earlier, the U.S. also asked Poland to send MiG-29 fighter jets to the air force in exchange for U.S. F-16s. However, the question mark is why the U.S. did not directly send F-16 fighter jets and Abrams tanks to Ukraine.

  1. CORRECTION: Poland asked if it could ship MiG 29s to Ukraine, but the US and NATO stalled. That would be a better platform for Ukraine as its pilots are already trained to operate it, vs the F16 which they are not trained on.
