HSMilitarycom: The EU has promised to send a number of fighter jets to Ukraine to fight Russia. However, this promise has not materialized to date.

"The Alliance will not send troops to Ukraine or move aircraft into Ukrainian airspace," Stoltenberg said, quoted by Hops.ID.

Stoltenberg also stressed that NATO members will not take part directly in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Earlier, the EU's offer of its fighter jets to Ukraine was initially disclosed by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Joseph Borrell.

Joseph at the end of February 2022 said the total aid for Kiev, Ukraine was 450 million euros, one of which consisted of supplies of fighter jets and various lethal weapons.

"Of course we will send weapons and fighter jets to Ukraine," Joseph told reporters some time ago.

"We don't want to just talk about ammunition," he added.

During the meeting with Stoltenberg, Polish President Andrzej Duda added that sending jets into Ukrainian airspace that are quite similar to Ukrainian MiG-29 Fulcrum and Su-27 Flanker fighters would be tantamount to military intervention in Russia's attack on the country.
