Countries that buy weapons from Russia need to be aware of the "threat of sanctions."

This was stated on Monday by a representative of the US administration during a telephone briefing, answering a question about the possibility of imposing sanctions against Egypt, which plans to acquire a batch of Russian Su-35 fighters.

The employee, whose name was not released, recalled the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) and urged countries that want to maintain and strengthen military ties with the United States to take this law very seriously.

She noted that the US administration cannot always protect states from imposing sanctions.

"We do not have the ability to be particularly flexible with regard to CAATSA, we had such a situation with China, with India, with Turkey, a NATO ally," TASS quotes.

Recall that Russia and Egypt signed a contract for the purchase of several dozen Su-35 fighters.

Deliveries should begin in 2020-2021. At the same time, ground infrastructure will be created to service new aircraft and train pilots.

In the next two years, China will consider the possibility of purchasing Russian fifth-generation Su-57E fighters (export version). In 2017-2018, Russia has already delivered 24 Su-35 aircraft to China.

China also became the first foreign customer for the S-400 Triumph air defense system, the contract was signed for two regiments.

The first regiment was delivered to China in the spring of 2018. And already at the end of the same year, China conducted the first firing of S-400 systems.

From July 2019, the Russian Federation will begin delivering the second regiment.

The contract for the purchase of Russian S-400s was signed with Turkey in 2017. According to the Turkish side, the Russian offer for the supply of anti-aircraft missile systems turned out to be more profitable than the US offer for the Patriot air defense system.

The other day, Washington announced the suspension of Turkey's participation in the program for the creation and acquisition of the fifth generation fighter F-35.

Despite all the threats, the Turkish authorities have taken a firm stance on this issue and do not plan to abandon the deal, as they have repeatedly stated.
