TU-22M3 Russian scares NATO ships in Mediterranean Sea
Hsmilitarycom: Planned NATO exercises in the Mediterranean may be on the verge of collapse due to the activation of Russian Tu-22M3 bombers.
It is indicated that the Alliance ship strike groups were discouraged by the maneuvers of Russian bombers in Syria, Avia.pro reports.
Military experts announced a possible disruption of NATO exercises in the Mediterranean Sea due to the fact that several Russian Tu-22M3 supersonic bombers unexpectedly arrived in Syria.
It is known that the bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried anti-ship cruise missiles on board, which sowed panic among the NATO ship crew.
Experts note that if the Russian side uses anti-ship missiles against NATO ships, this will lead to the complete destruction of the fleet, especially since the appearance of Alliance ships in the Mediterranean Sea is provocative.
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed information about the transfer of Tu-22M3 bombers to the site of NATO exercises, but emphasized that the mission of such missile carriers is exclusively reconnaissance and patrol in nature.
The arrival of Russian long-range bombers in Syria could disrupt NATO's plans. Noteworthy is the fact that the Tu-22M3s are equipped with Kh-32 cruise anti-ship missiles.
