“I authorized the transfer of additional US forces and equipment stationed in Europe to strengthen our Baltic allies - Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia,” he said, speaking about the Ukraine crisis.

Biden stressed that this decision is purely defensive in nature.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DNR and LNR. The parties signed an agreement on friendship and cooperation and mutual assistance.

The State Duma and the Federation Council ratified the treaties on February 22.

Federal laws on the ratification of friendship and cooperation treaties between Russia and the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) were signed by the President of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, the Public News Service reported that Washington believes that by recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Moscow launched an attack on Ukraine. This was announced by American leader Joe Biden.
