HSmilitarycom: Military pilots of the Russian Federation and Syria conducted the first joint air patrol over Syrian territory.

This was announced on Monday, January 24, in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The Russian Aerospace Forces  were represented by Su-34, Su-35 fighters and A-50 early warning aircraft.

From the Syrian side, MiG-23 and MiG-29 took part in the patrol.

Russian pilots flew from the Khmeimim air base, they practiced strikes against ground targets.

Syrian pilots were responsible for airspace control and fighter cover.

During the patrol, training missile launches against air targets were also carried out and ground targets were hit at one of the training grounds located in the central part of the country.

The patrol route ran along the Golan Heights, as well as over the northern regions of the Syrian Arab Republic.

In November 2021, joint tactical flight exercises of the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force took place at several airfields of the republic.

It was noted that the Russian and Syrian military performed a military task aboard the Russian Su-24.

During the training sortie, the team bombed the conditional positions of the militants.

At the end of October of the same year, the Russian military held a master class for the Syrian military and showed how to handle the domestic Shmel flamethrower.

As noted in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, such skills will be useful when storming buildings and defeating fortifications.
